Daniel Thompson was born in Rockingham County North Carolina around 1770. He married Margaret Grogan born sometime in the 1770's. Daniel was a drummer in the Revolutionary War. He recieved a land grant in Montgomery County Tennessee on Sept. 15 1787 for this service. (Land Grants of North Carolina Grant 592 Warrant 78).
